So this is the first post on my new website. It feels a little odd, I’m not going to lie. And the site is only a few hours old and totally, recklessly under construction. So thanks for bearing with me.
You might expect the first post to be a celebration of ME but it won’t be. (There will plenty of that ahead, let me tell you.) Instead, I’d like to celebrate someone else.
My buddy BJ Hollars has been putting good things into the world for a while now. Good writing. Good deeds. But just a few days ago, he (technically his wife, I suppose) gave us something even better than that, a little baby named Henry. So this is a shout out for BJ, his wife M, and the little guy Henry.
So BJ, congratulations on a great start to 2012. A baby. A chapbook of essays–In Defense of Monsters–out from Origami Zoo Press. Who knows what else will come. I do hope you don’t start in on the monster thing with Henry just yet.
Now, for those of you interested in poems more than babies, we’ll get to that soon enough. I’ll try to keep you posted on when and where my work–as well as my friends’–will be coming out. I’ll share good books I’m reading. Maybe a funny story or two (See also: Sarah Braud). And yes, of course, more birth announcements.
Speaking of birth announcements, this website is live, so watch out.
This is a good beginning, to always start with new life.
